Programme
This year’s AGI Congress is set against Iceland’s singular landscape, just waiting to take your breath away. Also taking your breath away will be Iceland’s “creative class” (pretty much every single one of them), ready for you to immerse yourselves in. Awe-inspiring nature, studio visits, guided cultural strolls (low & high), excursions through Reykjavik’s nightlife (if you’re into that), lonely walks (if you’re into that), and lots of opportunities for informal gatherings to catch up with old and new friends — all thoughtfully programmed to reflect Iceland’s history, heritage, openness, world-famous dry humor; and ongoing dialogue between craft, nature, and contemporary practice.
There might also be some elves sightings (if you’re into that).

Sunday
Welcome Drinks
We kick things off at our official hangout Bryggjuhúsið. One of the oldest buildings in Reykjavik, built on “point zero,” which is considered the city's geographical starting point. A fitting beginning of our week together.
Doors will be open from 17:00.
And at 20:00 we meet by the “shark station” to march on into the evening for a cozy BOB* gathering.
*BOB = Bring Your Own Bottle: Please bring your favorite bottle (alcohol or not), from your country of origin to share with your AGI friends! (you can always use the Duty Free shop at the airport on your incoming flight).

Monday
Congress—Deep Dive
Doors will open at 9:30 and close at 17:00.
After the New Members Zapping we’ll enjoy keynotes from the local creative scene, live music, and more. See below for more info on speakers. The evening is dedicated to the Special Project from 20:00 onwards.

Tuesday
Congress—Roadshow
After the General Assembly, which starts at 9:30, Congress will go ON TOUR, into nature, cultural endeavors and perhaps even some elves. Ending with the Special Dinner around 20:00 and a possibility of lingering into the night for those interested. Stay tuned. The wheels on the bus will go round and round.

Wednesday
Reykjavik—Local Flavours
In between Congress days and Open days you’ll get to walk around with locals, and even talk to them, on cultural strolls (low and high), dropping in to museums and galleries, music gigs and open studios. At the end of the day we gather again to share stories and notes.

Thursday
Open—Talks
The programme, starting at 9:30, will be curated specifically for the Icelandic design community, taking full advantage of the presence of AGI members on this rock in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Friday
Open—Mini Sessions
This day, starting at 9:30, will focus on workshops, masterclasses, studio visits, discussions, and small gatherings. There will be input both from members and local creatives, so everyone should find something fitting their tastebuds. Room-hopping could be a thing. Towards the end of the day we’ll all get together for some farewells.

Suggested Endeavors
We strongly suggest morning dips in one of the local public swimming pools. It’s as close as you can get to consider yourself a local. As a matter of a fact, the Icelandic swimming pool culture was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2025. It is the public squares of Iceland, where political debates happen and gossip is born. Geothermal springs work wonders on even the biggest non-believers. Thor knows best.
